Why does weed affect memory?

20 vs 40mg THC did not separate clearly

The 2026 study did not find significant memory differences between its moderate and high THC groups. That does not prove dose never matters. It means this study detected impairment at both tested doses without a clear difference between them.

Why the hippocampus matters

The hippocampus helps organize new experiences and connect details into memories. CB1 receptors are abundant in the hippocampus and are also found in frontal brain regions involved in attention and working memory. THC changes signaling through this system, which can disrupt the coordinated neural activity used to learn and recall information.
